One of the most common questions asked about the Architecture in Perspective {AIP} Competition is "How are the entries categorized?". The AIP competition features two professional categories: Rendering {including formal and informal characteristics} and Observational. Non-professional students may enter the Student category.

Rendering Formal
The Formal category includes formal presentation renderings, drawings, paintings and digital imagery of unbuilt and imaginary architectural works.

|
|
Rendering Informal
The Informal category includes informal sketches, drawings, paintings and digital imagery of unbuilt and imaginary architectural works.
|
|
|
Observational
The Observational category includes field sketches, plein air drawings, and depictions of existing architectural subjects.
|
|
Student
The Student category is open to non-professional students, and includes formal and informal renderings, drawings, sketches, paintings and digital imagery of unbuilt and imaginary architectural works.

|
|
|
The jury will select the finest architectural illustrations from a wide range of media, rendering styles and architectural subject matter. Approximately 75 entries will be selected for exhibition and inclusion in the catalog.
The deadline for the professional competition is Friday March 16, 2018.

Submitted artworks may be in color or black & white. Artwork may be created by hand, by computer or by any combination of these. Work may be client-commissioned, self-commissioned or imaginary. Style
of execution may vary from ultra-realistic to abstract.
No animation or three-dimensional sculpture can be considered for judging.
